Why the stops run in this order
The plan keeps every drive short by grouping stops that sit close together. Day one stays around Tanah Rata and Brinchang; day two makes one longer drive to the Mossy Forest, then works through the Kea Farm cluster.
Day one: Tanah Rata up to Brinchang
Day one starts in Tanah Rata, the main commercial and tourist town2. The first hop, from Coronation Park to Parit waterfall, is about 1 min by car, 0.9 km3. The longest drive of the day is from KHM Strawberries & Jam to Sam Poh Temple, at about 7 min by car, 3 km3.
After the temple, Cactus Valley and Big Red Strawberry Farm are practically neighbours: about 3 min by car, 0.9 km3 apart. From the strawberry farm, the night stop is about 2 min by car, 0.8 km3 away, so the day ends close to your bed.
Day two: Mossy Forest first, then Kea Farm
The Mossy Forest is the plan’s farthest point. From Hotel Jasmine it’s about 20 min by car, 11 km3, the longest drive of the trip, so you get it done first. From the forest to BOH Tea Centre (Sungei Palas Garden) is about 15 min by car, 8 km3.
After BOH, the stops bunch up. Kensington Western Restaurant, the meal stop, is about 3 min by car, 2 km on, and none of the hops after it, past the bee farm and sheep sanctuary to Flora Park, is longer than about 2 min by car, 1 km3. Before you go, read the Cameron Highlands Flora Park visitor guide.
Which day should you start this plan?
Start on any day except Sunday, so that day two doesn’t fall on a Monday. The other stops in the plan all list opening hours for every day of the week on Google Maps, and the plan block above shows each one.
How long you stay at BOH depends on the tour you book:
- The tea tasting and factory tour lasts 1 hour4.
- The tasting, factory tour and plantation walk lasts 2 hours4.
- That longer tour costs RM100 per person, with a minimum of 4 people4 (checked October 2026).
For opening details and the other tours, see the Sungai Palas tea garden guide.
Where to sleep: Brinchang
The plan’s overnight stop is Hotel Jasmine in Brinchang, between day one’s last stop and day two’s drive up to the forest. Brinchang is the highest of the three towns2, and highland nights can drop as low as 12 °C5, so pack a warm layer.
For more on the town itself, read about staying overnight in Brinchang.
Getting there and back
Cameron Highlands can only be reached by road2, roughly 200 km6 north of Kuala Lumpur. The plan starts in Tanah Rata, so that’s where you want to arrive.
-
From Kuala Lumpur by bus
Buses leave Terminal Bersepadu Selatan for Tanah Rata, take about 4½ hours and cost RM48.
-
Or by train and bus via Tapah
Tapah links to the railway at Tapah Road, and public buses run from Tapah to Tanah Rata.
-
Start at Coronation Park
Day one begins at Tanah Rata Coronation Park, in town, so you can go straight from the bus to the first stop.
Day two ends at Cameron Highlands Flora Park in Kea Farm, so leave time after it for the trip home. For every bus, train and driving option, see how to reach Cameron Highlands from KL.
The drive times in the plan assume you have a car. If you don’t, the Mossy Forest and tea plantation tour covers both of day two’s big stops. Want a slower pace? Try the longer itinerary with an extra night.
