Why the days run in this order
Each day stays in one part of the highlands, so most drives between stops take a few minutes. The plan works from Tanah Rata to Brinchang, then out to the Mossy Forest and the Kea Farm side.
- First day, Tanah Rata: the longest hop is Cameron Valley Tea House 2 to Animal Feeding Rainbow Garden, about 6 min by car, 6 km1. After that the stops sit close together: Coronation Park to Jasmine CafeHouse is about 1 min by car, 0.5 km1.
- Second day, Brinchang: the strawberry farms, Tokyo Town and Sam Poh Temple are short hops apart. Healthy Strawberry Farm to Tokyo Town @ Cameron is about 3 min by car, 1 km, and the day ends about 2 min by car, 0.7 km1 from Hotel Jasmine.
- Last day, Mossy Forest to Kea Farm: this day has the longer drives. Hotel Jasmine to the Mossy Forest is about 20 min by car, 11 km, then it’s about 15 min by car, 8 km1 on to BOH. The final stops cluster around Kea Farm: The Sheep Sanctuary is about 1 min by car, 0.2 km1 from the market.
The Mossy Forest comes first on the last day because it keeps the shortest hours of that day’s stops, 09:00 to 16:00 daily2.
Closed days and hours to plan around
The stop to plan the whole trip around is BOH Tea Centre (Sungei Palas Garden), on the last day.
A few other hours shape the order:
- Animal Feeding Rainbow Garden closes earlier on Tuesdays, at 17:302.
- Jasmine CafeHouse, the first day’s meal stop, opens at 12:00 daily2.
- OK Tuck Restaurant opens at 11:00 daily, and Kensington Western Restaurant at 11:00 daily2.
- Pasar Pagi Kea Farm Market keeps long hours, 07:00 to 19:00 daily2, which is why it can come last.
Time to spend at BOH and Kea Farm
The sources give a time to spend at BOH and at the Kea Farm market. At every other stop, set your own pace.
BOH says its Tea Tasting and Factory Tour at Sungei Palas lasts 1 hour3. The longer Tea Tasting, Factory Tour and Plantation Walk takes 2 hours and costs RM100 per person, with a minimum of 4 people3. Booking details are on the page about tea factory tours at BOH.
A private day tour sold on Lokalee gives the Kea Farm Market stop 30 minutes4, a fair guide if produce is all you’re after. Want a garden as well? Flower gardens5 are among the highlands’ attractions, and the Cameron Highlands Flora Park page covers one you could fit in.
What the trip costs
The sources price the bus up and the longer BOH tour. Hotel rates, meals and fuel aren’t covered here.
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Bus, Kuala Lumpur (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan) to Tanah Rata | RM486 (checked October 2026) |
| BOH Tea Tasting, Factory Tour and Plantation Walk | RM100 per person3 |
Where to sleep on each night
The plan sleeps in Tanah Rata on the first night and Brinchang on the second, so each morning starts close to that day’s stops.
- First night, Tanah Rata: the plan uses Century Pines Resort, about 1 min by car, 1 km1 from Parit waterfall. Tanah Rata is the main commercial and tourist town5; more on staying in Tanah Rata.
- Second night, Brinchang: the plan uses Hotel Jasmine, a short drive from the day’s last stop. Brinchang is the highest of the three towns5; see a night in Brinchang for the town itself.
Getting there and back from KL
Cameron Highlands is roughly 200 km north of Kuala Lumpur7 and can only be reached by road5. The trip starts and ends with the climb by bus or car.
-
Get up to Tanah Rata
Buses from Kuala Lumpur's Terminal Bersepadu Selatan take about 4½ hours; by rail, get off at Tapah Road and take the bus up from Tapah.
-
Base in Tanah Rata
The first day's stops and first night are in Tanah Rata, the main tourist town.
-
Move to Brinchang
The second day ends about 2 min by car, 0.7 km from Hotel Jasmine in Brinchang.
-
Leave from Kea Farm
The plan ends at Pasar Pagi Kea Farm Market; check your route home before you set off.
The drives between stops assume you have a car. Routes, fares and the KL to Cameron Highlands bus are on the getting-there page.
No car for the last morning? A Mossy Forest and tea plantation tour takes in the same kind of stops.
