Ringlet in Cameron Highlands: tea, farms and getting there
What Ringlet is like
Ringlet is the town to pick if you want quiet rather than cafés and souvenir shops. BOH Tea describes it as a smaller town, mainly residential and agricultural, and recommends it for a quiet, peaceful retreat4.
Ringlet is one of the three main towns5 of Cameron Highlands, in the state of Pahang3, and sits close to the state border with Perak2. Wikipedia calls it a hub of Malaysia’s vegetable farming and international flower farming2, and the cool climate suits passion fruit, strawberries and grapefruit1.

How high is Ringlet?
Ringlet sits at 1,1001 to 1,135 m2 above sea level; two Wikipedia pages give these slightly different figures. That’s below the 1,500 m Tourism Pahang quotes for the highlands as a whole, and below Brinchang, the highest of the three towns5.
The Lakehouse, just outside town, gives its own height as about 1,000 m6.
Things to do around Ringlet
Ringlet’s draws are tea gardens and farm country rather than sights in the town itself. Tourism Pahang names BOH and Bharat as the tea estates best developed for visitors5, and both have a Ringlet connection.
BOH Tea Garden Habu
BOH Tea Garden Habu is the main sight here, with the address 39000 Ringlet4. BOH says Habu, at over 465 hectares, is the largest and oldest of its tea gardens, and has its first tea factory, built in the 1930s7.
- Opening hours: 8.30am–4.30pm, Tuesday to Sunday4 (checked October 2026)
- Garden entrance to the tea centre: nearly 2 km7
- For BOH’s other big garden, see BOH’s better-known Sungai Palas estate.
Bharat tea plantation
The Bharat tea plantation lies on the Tanah Rata side, toward Ringlet3. Wikivoyage calls it the second-largest tea producer in Malaysia3.
Bertam Valley
Bertam Valley is a farming village in southern Cameron Highlands, with its entry at Ringlet8. For a drive through farm country, the road from Ringlet to Sungai Koyan is, in Wikivoyage’s words, a particularly picturesque mountain road, starting with countless greenhouses3.
The Lakehouse: afternoon tea, dinner and rooms
The Lakehouse is a Tudor-style hotel on a hill overlooking Sultan Abu Bakar Lake3, at 30th Mile Ringlet6. Afternoon tea is served daily on the Lakeview Terrace from 2pm to 6pm9.

Staying in Ringlet, or nearby

How do you get to Ringlet?
You get to Ringlet by road, the only way into Cameron Highlands5: leave the expressway at Tapah and take Route 593 up, or come in from the Pahang side through Bertam Valley. Ringlet is the first town on the Tapah road.
-
Leave the expressway at Tapah
By car, exit the North-South Expressway at Tapah and take Route 59.
-
Climb the mountain road
BOH Tea puts the climb at about 60 km, taking 1.5 to 2 hours.
-
Reach Ringlet
Ringlet is the first town, about 1 hour 30 minutes up from Tapah.
By bus and train
- From Kuala Lumpur: buses leave Terminal Bersepadu Selatan for Tanah Rata, taking about 4½ hours and costing RM483.
- From Singapore: overnight buses stop at Ringlet and the Lakehouse3 on their way to Tanah Rata.
- By train: the railway is at Tapah Road5, a separate town 10 km west of Tapah13, and a Regal bus14 runs between Tapah and Cameron Highlands.
Fares and departures for each route are on the page with bus fares and routes up from KL. Without your own car, a half-day tour such as Klook’s Cameron Highlands and Mossy Forest tour is one way to see the higher ground.
From Raub and Kuala Lipis
Ringlet is where the roads from Raub/Kuala Lipis and Tapah meet5. From Raub or Kuala Lipis you climb via Sungai Koyan1 and enter the highlands through Bertam Valley.
Avoiding the crowds and the jams
Ringlet’s roads are quietest outside the holidays. Plan around these dates:
